Perfectionism and community-identity integration: the mediating role of shame, guilt and self-esteem

Abstract Recent years have been marked by a rise in perfectionism developed countries. Studies shown that dimensions of are related to the way people handle identity crises, whose successful resolution leads finding place within adult community. In present study, we aimed show two – perfectionistic strivings and concerns outcomes formation these relationships mediated shame guilt-proneness, self-esteem. A path mediation model showed self-esteem fully mediate relationship between community-identity. These findings both theoretical practical implications. Firstly, they mechanism which may be stage resolution. Secondly, our results support distinction expressing drive towards excellence, fear failure being judged studies. This turn contribute more fitting nuanced psychotherapeutic interventions, as it justifies application tools at reducing enhancing strivings.
